Tower cranes enable the construction industry to build various amazing structures. These cranes have been designed to reach ever-increasing heights. Tower cranes provide the way to lift and transport tools, building parts and materials around a construction site. There are several different components which assemble a tower crane once they are put together. Putting a tower crane together uses various pieces of construction machines.
Normally, the tower crane base is made from a steel unit. The base is connected to a concrete pad that is custom-designed. This set-up provides the structure with stability. Generally, the construction has to be well engineered and built so as to operate at optimum safety.
The mast on the tower crane provides the equipment with its overall height. The mast is constructed out of individual steel parts which are attached together. The amount of parts determines the height of the crane. Normally, a tower crane has a design which allows the mast to grow during construction by adding more sections as the building process goes on. This way the crane's height could be specified, making certain that it has sufficient height to safely and efficiently perform the needed work.
A slewing unit is located over the mast. This unit houses the equipment and the motor that enables the crane to rotate. A top climber is the piece of machinery that enables the mast to grow. The top climber is located just underneath the slewing unit. Hydraulic rams inside the top climber allow the slewing unit to be disconnected from the mast by raising it higher.
The term "boom", refers to the working arm of a tower crane. The boom is made up of separate steel parts that are attached together, extending out from the top of the slewing unit and parallel to the ground. There is a trolley attached to the bottom that can run the length of the boom. This particular trolley has the hoisting device.
When reaching up and overtop of obstacles mounted on floors, machinery and equipment, articulating man lifts are the ideal option. These equipment are capable of reaching high positions which are not accessed easily by a telescopic or straight boom lift.
The cherry picker or articulated boom lift is hydraulically powered lift that can easily access, high places above ground level. An articulated boom lift is controlled by the driver from a panel which is located in the bucket.
The different components of the articulated boom allow it to travel in different directions. Like for example, a boom lift is capable of traveling both vertically and horizontally, as opposed to a scissor lift, that only has vertical travel capability. The boom lift could easily reach over huge obstacles by being able to travel in opposing directions. This boom is supported by and attached to a grounded vehicle.
Construction crews and window fitters use boom lifts for is strong and stable platform on which to stand when working on the outsides of buildings. Tree surgeons and lamppost engineers as well as firefighters frequently use boom lifts.
